Elena is coming home!

It has been 63 days since Elena was born and she is coming home today! She is 4 lbs 11 oz (2135 grams)We are very excited and will continue to update this site regulary. Here are some pictures from the hospital and her first day at home.

A Crib for Elena

2/14/08

Elena was put in an open crib today. She started to bottle feed as tolerated on Saturday and they removed the feeding tube from her nose. So far things are going OK. The feedings are at times difficult, but getting better. Daddy is best at it ( for now)! Elena weighed in at 1940 (4 lbs 5 oz) on Saturday.

2/13/08

It is difficult to put into words how happy we are with Elena's progress. She is now 1890 grams(4 lbs 2 oz). She is taking 35 cc of formula (a little over an ounce) by bottle feeding 3x a day. Everyday we are closer to bringing her home! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for our beautiful daughter.

Elena is now getting a bottle 3x a day. Her weight has increased to 1755 grams (3 lbs 14 oz). She continues to amaze us daily! Aunt Kathy was so excited to get to visit and hold Elena.

Grama Walsh and Aunt Roey visit

2/8/08

Elena has moved into the "B" unit. This is a step in the right direction, it means she is very stable. She is getting a bottle 2x a day and weighs 1710 grams (3 lbs 12 oz). Grama Walsh fed her today and Aunt Roey was able to get in and hold her!

A bottle and a bath

2/3/08

I was able to give Elena a bottle for the first time today. Steve gave her a bath for the first time too! She is now up to 1600 grams ( 3.8 lbs)!!

Baa Baa

February 2, 2008 5 pm: Elena had her first bottle today! After a few tries and a nipple change she was able to get down most of her 27 cc (almost 1 ounce)! She will be getting one bottle feeding a day, increasing as she gets better at it. The nurse said Mommy can try and feed her tomorrow.

Catching up

Aunt Ro Ro came by on Jan 27, Grama Ree Ree and Pop came by on Feb 2 and Daddy comes everyday to Love his girl up!
